Camp Chenoa Antrim, NH

Camp Chenoa is in Antrim, NH, about 15 miles from Peterborough and 25 miles from Keene. Its 300 acres are situated on Gregg Lake. There are 10 units, housing from 12-36 people, a pavilion, amphitheater, shower house, program center and dining hall. There are several primitive camping sites and a beautiful beaver pond on the other side of the property. Two composting toilet buildings serve the upper and lower camp. Fire pits are located in Gourmet corner and in some units.

The dining hall and kitchen must be rented together. You will receive instructions before use.
Picnic Tables and fire circles are available at each site. Equipment and cleaning supplies will be provided by caretaker

SWIMMING AND BOATING

  1. Camp Chenoa is located on Gregg Lake with 1000 feet of frontage. The following rules must be followed by all groups using the lake.
  2. You must have a lifeguard for every 25 swimmers and every 6 boats. The lifeguard or someone else must have current First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. The lifeguard must have current lifeguard certification from American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America or the YMCA. There must be one adult watcher for every 10 people in the water. The lifeguard must be over 18.
  3. To swim and boat prior arrangements must be made with Jessica ext. 177. You will receive special swimming and boating information. Upon request, rescue equipment and boats might be available.
  4. The lifeguard must have a rescue tube and develop a whistle safety system. (1 blast attention, 2 blasts buddy check, 3 blasts exit the water immediately). For boating there must be a visual and auditory system for signaling boaters in case of an emergency.
  5. Swimming must be in the designated roped off area.
  6. Lifeguard should check the swimming areas for hazards before girls enter the water.
  7. An emergency phone is located at the lodge.
  8. Life Jackets must be worn by all boaters, at all times.
  9. You must supply a first aid kit with a pocket mask that must be at the swimming/boating area.

SPECIAL INFORMATION - The bathrooms are composting toilets (CTS).

  1. They are environmentally friendly and depend on a natural process. Put only human waste and toilet paper in toilet. Do not add water or chemicals.
  2. Year round staff may be living in the tents or yurt along the road or in the administration building. Please do not enter a living space marked private.
  3. Water is only available throughout the entire camp from May 15 - October 1.
  4. Please do not use the fireplace in any building except the dining hall.
  5. Ranger will secure fire permit for the season. Call number provided to check on current fire conditions before you go
  6. Check with ranger for availability of hot water in shower house.
