Special Interest Groups

  • Special Interest Groups are groups of girls working together with a single focus.
  • Some last for six - eight meetings while others are active year round.
  • Annual Membership in Girl Scouts allows girls to participate in both a troop and several GS Interest Groups.
  • For more information on opening an interest group in your community conctact:  Maureen

C.A.M.P.

C.A.M.P. began in 1998 when a group of girls wanted more opportunities to go camping. Diversity among members means we have a range of different camping trips; cabin, or lodge camping, tenting, building and sleeping in snow shelters, and more. We have traveled as far as Prince Edward Island, and Washington D.C. to camp, but most of our trips are throughout New England. We have been found biking on Cape Cod, paddling to remote sites on Lake Umbagog, shopping in Boston, and many more places.
To join C.A.M.P. you must be in grade 7 or higher, and you must be willing to work with others to set and achieve goals. Our members have come from a variety of towns. There are no specific skills required of new members, but it is helpful to have a willingness to try new skills and a spirit of adventure.
We are active year round and do most of our planning during our overnights and supplement through email(virtual) meetings.  An occasional meeting in the Epping area may be planned to accomplish details for a specific event or trip if required.  For more information please contact Crys.

Coastal Rompers Marine Science Interest Group

The Coastal Rompers interest group began in fall 1996. It continues to grow and add new adventures to its list of annual accomplishments. The group's main goal is to provide leadership support to 3 coast-related weekend events at Camp Seawood in Portsmouth NH:

  • Brownie & Junior Discovery
  • "Sea Sleuth"

By tradition, the group meets and holds activities on 3rd Saturdays. For example, we hold our annual planning meeting on the 3rd Saturday in October and schedule program training for the 3rd Saturday in January.

More traditional events have become established:

  • Annual trip to Boston--includes a "behind the galleries" tour at the New England Aquarium and a shopping spree at Quincy Market.
  • "Ocean Matters"--weekend badge-blast type event, 3rd Saturday in May. Coastal Rompers serve as tidepool guides at Sandwich's Town Beach on Cape Cod, MA. We stay at Wind-in-the-Pine Girl Scout Reservation (Plymouth Bay GS Council) in South Plymouth, MA. (All of our meals are served at no cost to the group.)

Over the years, trips have included:

  • Shoals Marine Lab on Appledore Island (2 trips during Summer 2002)
  • Woods Hole (MA) Seaport and Aquarium
  • Mystic, Connecticut Seaport and Aquarium

We're always looking for new members, and would welcome the participation of anyone who likes sea life and working with younger girls excited about exploring the wonders of the seashore.

   To join, a girl must:

  • Register as a Girl Scout
  • Be in grade 7 or higher.
  • Pay one-time group membership dues of $5. (financial assistance is available)
