Cookie Sale Program — The Best Booth Sale EVER!!

Did you know?

  • Troops that have cookie booths are almost twice as likely to accomplish their goals than groups that don’t.
  • Cookie booths can help your troop reach more customers and thus give girls more opportunities to practice their people skills.
  • Whether your cookie booth is in front of a grocery store, in a mall, at a community event, or mobile like a Cookie Caravan, there are steps you can take to ensure that your group’s efforts really pay off.
  • If you let your Delivery Manager know when and where you are having a Booth Sale she/he will be able to notify Swift Water Council and have it advertised on our council website!

5 Easy Steps for your Cookie Booth

Step 1: Pick a busy place and time! Pick a location and time when the most people are likely to pass by. If you don’t know when or where that might be, ask store managers about their busiest times, ask event leaders how many people they expect. Contact your SU Cookie Booth Cooridantor or SU Cookie Delivery Manager for suggestions about a fantastic location for your Booth Sale.

Step 2: Stock up! Have plenty of cookies and take orders if you run out. If you are worried about getting stuck with leftovers, remember unopened cases taken from a cupboard can be returned within three days of taking them out. Cookies from your Initial Order (those your picked up on deliver day) may not be returned.

Step 3: Advertise! It pays. Get the girls involved. Brainstorm ways to attract customers to your cookie booth. Get Going! Decorate with posters designed to look like road signs, goal charts, photos of group activities, balloons, cookie boxes, cookie costumes….Hang posters ahead of time announcing your sale. Post arrows directing people to your location. As soon as you secure your date, time and location let your Delivery Manager know so that we can advertise it on our council website! Wear the Swift Water Cookie Costumes (available from Swift Water Council).

Step 4: Recruit adult help! It’s important to have enough adults present to insure the safety of the girls.Check Safety-Wise for the standards and procedures that apply to Booth Sales (like a Day Trip away from the meeting place) It’s also important that adults don’t take over. Girls learn by doing! Adults are there to provide support—help them understand their role so girls can get the most of their cookie booth experience.

Step 5: Be prepared! Think of fun ways to practice selling and telling customers about the group’s plans and goals. Brush up on money-handling skills. Review safety rules. It will help your cookie booth run smoothly and get the girls excited. Also, incorporate the theme and be sure to communicate your troop goals with your customers!! If approached, most people will buy Girl Scout Cookies. Demand truly exceeds supply! The challenge is getting Girl Scouts in front of customers. Cookie booths can be a fun and easy solution that is win-win for all. Remember, you are in the public eye at a Booth Sale, and you should always present a positive image of Girl Scouting.
