GSSWC Canned Programs

Canned programs contain the information and supplies leaders need to run special theme activities. Canned programs may be borrowed for up to three weeks. Contact Kathy G at x 154 for more information.

Building Possibilities - All age levels

Program emphasis is development of girl interest in the field of engineering.

Available at the Regional Offices.

Fit For A Princess - Juniors

Fit for a Princess is a program designed and sponsored by the National Cattleman's Beef Association to promote Girls' health and to teach the importance of nutrition and physical activity. This program directly communicates the Girl Scout commitment to "build a strong body." Available at the Regional Offices.

Five A Day - All age levels
Have fun and eat in a healthy way!  This canned program includes snack suggestions, recipes, puzzles and great tips for a healthier you!
Available at the Bedford Office.

Girlsports - Daisy and Brownie  

This is a fun and active sports-readiness program. This program kit includes a Leader's Guide, progressive skill building  activity cards, and a mesh bag full of equipment!

Kits are available in all Regional Offices. 

HerStory - Brownie and Juniors

Help celebrate women's history! Step back in time and help celebrate women's accomplishments with an opportunity to learn by living it. The focus of this canned program is to acknowledge, honor and encourage women.

Available at the Bedford Office.

Trekkin - A Winter Discovery - Brownie and Juniors

Program  focuses on outdoor exploration and can be used with or with out snowshoes. Can be used with earning the Outdoor Adventurer Try-it or the Frosty Fun Badge.

Kits are available at Anne Jackson and Sunset Valley.

Turning Beauty Inside Out - Juniors and Older Girls

What is real beauty?  Do advertisements reflect what teens are and what they want or do they play a role in creating these things?  Does the media accurately show what it means to be a female in today’s world?  This media-literacy patch program offers girls (Junior age-level and Older) activities and information to begin  exploring the teen magazines and music that help to shape our definitions of body image and self-esteem.  Available at all 5 Regional Offices.

Yellow Brick Road - All ages
Using the characters from the Wizard of Oz, this canned program offers herat healthy tips, self-esteem building games, and brain games. This program is for girls of all ages and is best utilized in an outdoor or large indoor setting.

Zink  - All ages

This special patch program is a collaboration between Swift Water Council and the Zink the Zebra Foundation, Inc. It is designed to teach children and adults the importance of understanding, respect, compassion, and acceptance. Check out this cool program, everything you need is in the Zink kit. GSSWC Patch programs

These are developed by GSSWC with patch requirements and activity suggestions for all age level troops and
groups or individually registered scouts. Packets are available at the Service Center reception desk or from Kathy
x 154. You can download and print many of the Patch Programs Packets by clicking on the Program Name.  All of these programs have patches, and some even have add-on mini patches so they can be done year after year!

Be Your Best - All ages

This program will help you "Be Your Best" while you are lending a helping hand. Choose an organization that helps others (i.e. animal shelters, American Red cross, Salvation Army, Nursing Homes, etc.). Plan your own activities to bring out the best in each of you.

Bones of Steel - All ages

A cool program about Osteoporosis, making this important subject fun and meaningful.

Buidling Possiblities- All ages

Find out about the exciting careers in the field of engineering.

Camp Detective - All ages

Fun and exciting patch that ties into summer camp.

Dental Health - All ages

Developed by GSUSA and the Auxiliary of American Dental Association, this patch program encourages oral hygiene.

Do-Its - Brownies
More challenging than a Try-It, this booklet contains several Do-Its to earn.

Five A Day - All ages

Have fun while learning to eat and play in a healthy way. This is also a canned program with games and music and other fun activities.

Girl/Adult Decision Making &Planning -All ages

Promotes decision making by girls with the assistance of adults. Gives progressive steps for leaders to allow girls to do planning.

Kids Are Kids - All ages

Expand your girls awareness of disabilities, their effects, and how you can be of service to those with disabilities. Daisy and Brownie Kids are Kids, Junior Kids Are Kids and Cadette-Senior Kids are Kids

Operation Snowflake - All ages
Have fun in the snow and earn your Operation Snowflake Badge. Can be repeated to earn mini snowflakes.

Sister to Sister Patch Program- All ages

As we move forward towards the creation of one council serving New Hampshire and Vermont, a group of volunteers and staff have created a new patch program  so that we can get to know each other. It is designed to help girls, leaders, and troops make new friends and learn about what is unique and similar between two councils.

*This patch will only be available for 2 years.

Sunsational Summer - All ages

Don't want the fun to end? This patch promotes year-round group program activities for the summer season.

Super Troop Camper - All ages
Visit, camp out or attend a session at each one of the GSSWC properties and be a
Super Trooper.

Take the Calcium Challenge - All ages
Created through a contest sponsored by Cabot Creamery. To order booklet/requirements, please email Deborah Lowery, at writer1118@bellsouth.net. Please include name, mailing address, phone number and email.

Together We Prepare - All ages
The American Red Cross and the GSSWC jointly developed this preparedness program designed to help girls, their families and communities become better prepared for unpredictable events.

Girl Scout sponsors anti-smoking activities. Booklets can be purchased through GSSWC store or borrowed from our resource library.

Safety is an important part of being a Girl Scout and learning to think safe for all of your life. GSUSA Safety Awards

Water Drop Patch Project
Make a difference in their communities by becoming watershed and wetlands stewards. Use their skills and  knowledge to educate others about the need to protect the nation's valuable water resources, explore the natural world to gain an interest in science and math, and use the Internet as a source of information. Computers in Every Day Life
Nowadays computers fit on your desk, in your book bag, or in the palm of your hand. They can be found at school, in libraries, and at most places of work and play. This project will introduce you to everyday functions of using the family PC as well as computers at school, at work, and in the community.

The computer is a great tool for doing schoolwork and hobbies. Computers help you work faster and smarter.

The computer is not only a useful tool. It also opens a door to cool places, new ideas, and tons of information.

Cyber - Junior
CyberGirlScout is a badge that does not exist in the print world - only in the cyber world. So welcome and safe surfing!

Exploring the Net
Visiting an art museum, finding out about what plants grow best in your part of the country, investigating a career, or chatting with a friend half a world away - these are just a few of the possibilities when you explore the infinite Internet.
