WHEN TEENS TALK, TEENS LISTEN NH Teen Institute
We have known for a long time that teens are more influenced by their peers than by adults in authority. That's why our programs are successful. We're not here to tell youth what to think or do.
Our approach is to inspire leadership among teens and to provide opportunities for self-development.
Through a variety of programs, offered locally, regionally, and statewide, we offer year-round skills training, education, and support for teens and adult advisors who are working together to make a positive difference. Our unique training format empowers teens to become self-aware and confident Individuals, create healthy lifestyles, cultivate positive relationships and become engaged as leaders in their schools and communities.
The New Hampshire Teen Institute offers a variety of prevention-based leadership training programs for middle school students and high school students. Some of these take place at a particular training site, while others are presented in schools or communities around the State.

Does the Teen Institute have scholarships available for its programs?
The Teen Institute has a limited amount of scholarship assistance available, but applicants should first seek to obtain funding from their families, Safe and Drug-Free school funds, SADD chapter or other school groups, and local community coalitions and sponsoring organizations. After actively seeking such funding support, you may apply to the Teen Institute for additional aid you may require.
A special scholarship fund has been set up in memory of Mary E. Gautier, a Senior Girl Scout that had earned her Silver Award, was on the Girl Scout Board of Directors, and was aspiring to earn her Gold Award. Mary was very active in SADD, and LIP with Teen Institute, and wanted to go to college to become licensed to work with troubled teens. She was killed in a car accident on the way to a NHTI training on January 3, 2004, so this scholarship was set up to help other girl scouts, in grades 7-12, that have earned their Silver Award or higher.
Can I attend a Summer Leadership Program if a school or community group doesn’t sponsor me?
Yes, the Summer Leadership Program is open to anyone who wants to come, with or without sponsorship.
Forms are available on the NH Teen Institute website to apply for the programs, Scholarship Assistance, Parental Permission and Reference/Recommendation. www.nhteeninstitute.org
“The people were awesome and free here and we were allowed to speak our minds. We were given the opportunity to grow and we embraced it. It has been the best week ever!”
