Training FAQ's

Where exactly is the training?

For the safety of our girls and volunteers we do not give specific locations of our trainings or properties on line. The address and directions to your training will be included in your course confirmation.

Why isn’t there a training in my town?

Trainings are scheduled in locations based on need in an area and the availability of trainers. If you can not make any of the scheduled trainings you can call 1-800-654-1270 x177 or email training@swgirlscouts.org to ask to be put on a wait list. The wait list is used to determine where future trainings should be held and people on the wait list are contacted when new trainings are scheduled in your region.

What if I can’t register on line?

Mail or fax a completed registration form to GSSWC Registrars, PO Box 10832 Bedford, NH 03110. Fax - 1-603-627-4169

What trainings Must I take?

All volunteers must take orientation which is available from your Service Team or Regional Office. Volunteers who will be working with girls must take either Daisy Doings or EOL I & EOL II specific to the age level they will be working with. Each group/troop that plans to leave the meeting place needs to have an adult first aider who has taken an approved First aid & CPR training and groups/troops planning on taking girls hiking, camping or cooking in the outdoors must have an adult outdoor specialist who has taken BOLS.

How will I know if I am placed in a class?

When your registration is processed and the minimum required number of participants sign up for your course you will receive a confirmation letter by mail or email depending the choice indicated on your registration form. If a training is full or if the minimum number of participants do not sign up by the deadline you will be notified.

What if I don’t show up for a course, will I get my money back?

Only cancellations made more than 3 business days prior to a course will be refunded. Failure to show for training without proper notification will result in loss of payment.

Are trainings ever cancelled?

Yes. Trainings that do not meet the minimum number of participants required will be cancelled. The council also reserves the right to cancel trainings if the trainer is ill or unable to make the training session (remember our trainers are volunteers too) or in the event of inclement weather. Registered participants will be notified of cancellations.

May I bring my daughter?

No. We can not accommodate children, infants or pets at trainings

May I save a spot for a friend?

No. Participants must register on their own.

May I take training with someone other than GSSWC?

In some cases. Certain CPR & First aid courses from the American Red Cross, American Safety & Health Institute, Emergency First Response, EMP America, National Safety Council, and American Heart Association will be accepted. All Leadership trainings from the Girl Scout Council of Vermont are accepted.
